Here are the highlights for leasing your personal leased lobster trap with Crate to Plate.

The fishing season is June 1 - December 24. The full season program buys you all the lobsters caught in your trap from the first day of the fishing season even if you bought a month in. A half season program is for any 3 consecutive months during the season from your start date. The monthly program is for one calendar month during the season.
The shipping season is July 1 - December 24.

Once your payment is received you will be able to go to "Check my Trap" to select an available trap. If you do not want to select one, we will do so for you.

For full and half season leased trap programs, once your payment is received we will send you a "welcome package". This package includes details and a map of the fishing area, 4 lobster crackers, 4 lobster picks, 4 butter warmers, 4 lobster dishtowels, directions on cooking lobster (with other recipes besides the tradition steaming), instructions on how to eat a lobster, and other treats to better help you enjoy the freshest lobster you will ever receive from your personal leased lobster trap.

A full season lobster lease will start with a 6 lobster credit beginning July 1 of each season. A half season will start with a four lobster credit at the onset of the lease for the three consecutive months chosen between June and December. Monthly catches can be sent at the end of your month or the catch can be sent in two installments. Your Lobster Bank credit will be applied to actual lobsters caught from your trap.

Your buoy can be checked, as desired, on the interactive map from "Check my Trap" on the website. It will indicate how many total lobsters have been caught and subsequently shipped on your behalf.

Shipments must be in units of 4 or more lobsters, not less. The shipment request cannot exceed the number of lobsters remaining in from your catch (total lobsters caught to date less number of lobsters shipped at your request). Shipments can be made to your friends and family as gifts. Additional "gift packages" can be purchased to accompany their gift for $100 per gift package. The contents are the same as your welcome package. Shipments can be ordered, based on available lobsters from your trap, for Friday or Saturday delivery with 3 days notice. Special occasion shipments, for birthdays and anniversaries, can be ordered for days other than Friday and Saturday with 2 week's notice. Note: all shipments are done via FedEx Priority Overnight. We cannot ship when FedEx can't ship. You can always confirm desired delivery dates with us in advance.

If you get a chance to come to Maine during your Crate to Plate season, for full and half season leased trap programs, we welcome you aboard the Fisher Girl with Captain Dan for ½ day of fishing. We encourage you to roll up your sleeves and learn how the lobsters are caught. We will fish your personal leased lobster trap that day and you can bring home any lobsters from your trap. Or... they can be added to your overall catch for a later shipment date.

Lobsters are best eaten upon day of arrival. We work hard to send you the freshest lobster possible. Please notify us immediately if any problems occur from shipment. Captain Dan likes to call trap owners to see that the lobsters arrived safely and to answer on any last minute cooking questions.
